Objectives

The purpose of NAPA is to promote public interest in and understanding of Native American history, culture and traditions and to support and assist today's Native Americans in preserving their heritage through the following objectives:

 

1. Establish and maintain a site to hold and preserve artifacts and historical          information on local and other Native Americans.

 

2. Identify, locate, classify and assist in the preservation of sacred sites, burial sites and other objects of Native American historical importance in this area.

 

3. Promote public interest in and understanding of Native American heritage with special events, programs and documented publications.

 

4. Encourage historical research of the Native Americans of Northwest Georgia and the Southeast.

 

5. Promote the pride of heritage, the progress and general welfare of Native Americans and their descendants.

 

6. Display, demonstrate and promote Native American arts and crafts and preserve the techniques and traditions used by Native Americans.

 

7. Establish guidelines for the genealogical research of Native American ancestry.
